Asset value combines on-court Performance (the production an acquiring team gets) with the Contract Value Index (the surplus behind the deal). A strong producer on a favorable contract is the most valuable trade chip — a same-production player on a max deal returns less, because the contract eats the cap room a trade is supposed to free.
