Overview

Long, fluid wing with a projectable frame and elite two-way potential. Dybantsa has emerged as a legitimate contender for the top pick with his rare combination of size, shooting, and defensive versatility. At 6'9" with guard skills, he profiles as a modern NBA wing archetype. Set a BYU freshman record with 43 points in a single game and recorded the program's first triple-double in nearly a decade.

Background

AJ Dybantsa grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts and attended Saint Sebastian's School before transferring to Prolific Prep and ultimately Utah Prep Academy. He reclassified from the 2026 high school class to 2025, making him one of the youngest players in the draft class. He was the consensus No. 1 overall recruit. At BYU, Dybantsa was nothing short of spectacular. He posted 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 51% from the field. He broke 19 BYU freshman records, including a 43-point explosion and the program's first triple-double in nearly a decade. Despite dealing with injuries to key teammates, Dybantsa carried the Cougars to a six-seed in the NCAA Tournament, cementing his case as the likely No. 1 overall pick.
